Behind the Scenes: A Day in Our Hanoi Atelier

· · 1 min read

Tucked away in Hanoi’s historic Old Quarter, our atelier occupies a beautifully restored French colonial building that has sheltered artisans for over a century. Here, a team of 12 master tailors and 8 apprentices bring NamSilk garments to life, one stitch at a time.

6:30 AM — The Morning Ritual

Master tailor Nguyễn Văn Hùng arrives first, as he has every morning for 30 years. He begins by inspecting the previous day’s work, running his practiced fingers along seams and checking alignment against the original specifications. “The morning light is the most honest,” he says. “It reveals everything.”

8:00 AM — Cutting

New orders from our online configurator arrive overnight. Each set of measurements is translated into a custom pattern by our pattern master, who adjusts the base template using CAD software before hand-cutting each piece. Silk demands exceptional precision — there is no margin for error with a fabric this fine.

10:00 AM — Construction

The actual construction of a garment involves over 50 individual steps. Our tailors use a combination of machine and hand sewing, with all critical structural elements — buttonholes, collar construction, hem finishing — done entirely by hand.

2:00 PM — Quality Control

Every completed garment undergoes a 27-point quality inspection. We check seam strength, button alignment, pattern matching, and overall construction integrity. Any garment that doesn’t meet our standards is deconstructed and rebuilt.

4:00 PM — Final Pressing and Packaging

Garments are steamed on a professional form, then carefully packaged in acid-free tissue paper and placed in our signature garment bags. Each package includes a care card and a personal note from the tailor who crafted it.

From your online design to your doorstep, each NamSilk garment represents approximately 15 to 20 hours of skilled craftsmanship — a labor of love that we believe you can feel the moment you put it on.
